Camas flower in early to mid spring in the Northwest. These were growing near a stream in Woodmansee City Park in Salem, Oregon. The native flower’s bulbs were used by local Native Americans for thousands of years as one of their primary food sources. They grow best in an Oak Savanna, which is what most of Oregon’s Willamette Valley was prior to Europeans arrived.
